Gavin recently travelled to Dubai,to spend some time working with Godolphins senior farrier Derek Poupard. Derek has been developing a 3D shoe to attach to the foot with no nails and no glue,using a technique through hoof casting combined with the shoe he has designed.
Gavin is only the third person in the world to acquire the skill to attach the shoe Derek has developed.
It’s early days yet for this cast on shoe,but it has the potential to really help horses with brittle weak feet which do not react well to glued or nailed on shoes.
